Einstein Square , every Thursday, an English corner will on. It’s a place where strangers may become acquaintances, even good friends through chatting in English. Keen on English or eager to improve their speaking ability, people gather in circles to talk ,gaining confidences virtually ,meanwhile,  having a nice night during those conversations.  

Most of the time, guys there are divided into several groups, and each group includes 4 to 7 people(sometimes even 10)who stand in a circle, just with a simple greeting, you could be one of them. Those topics they are talking about are interesting, attractive and fashionable. In this way, anyone involved could easily concentrate. And still, the atmosphere there is quite nice. So,you are likely to see people bursting into laugher.

But what if the topic is not the one you expected, you could propose topics which is more appealing or simply turn to another group you are fond of.

Wangpenzhan, a senior from material department, is one of the English broadcasters in charge of the English corner.he proposes of holding this activity is to let people talk, to offer a stage for those who want to open their mouths,said Wang:" Through chatting, students can also gain self-confidence and enlarge their circles of friends. The duty of the English broadcasters like me is to join the groups and then let everyone speak, especially those who are too shy to speak, we do not want anyone to stand there just listening. "

On the other hand, students find attending English corner beneficial and helpful. Xiayingying,a senior  from world trading department, goes there to practice English frequently. She mentions that she is going to take an English text and she feels it is urgent to improve her oral English. "English corner offers me the opportunity to utilize what I have learned." On some occasions, foreigners join the English party too. Bill Gray, a Korean who has been in Chicago for 20 years, also takes part in it in his spare time. Now he teaches a Chinese girl Korean and that girl teaches him Chinese in return, and the coincidence is that they came across each other in English corner!

Fun, friends and confidence, that’s what you can take from  English corner. If you want to talk in English, waste no time and join them!
