, an experienced teacher will impart the skills and method to you during the speech course.
Nowadays, as
China
opening to the world and these English speech contests have become more and more popular among our young people, lots of students are eager to take part in the competition to show their abilities.
However, before you stand on the stage, there is a long way to get prepared for it, during which it’s of great importance to have a guide who will help you solve the problems appearing on the way.
The speech course is for this aim. Almost every week, there is a different teacher in the class talking about the skills, pronunciation, manners, styles and writing of the speech as well. Also they introduce students the different types of the contests and their details.
Richard, one of the teachers, said: “Well, I like the students in the speech class very much. I also think it is a great idea to have such a class for those students who are brave enough to enter a speech contest in a foreign language. Things I want them to get from me: improvement, confidence, and most importantly the understanding that they should capitalize on their own unique personalities instead of trying to copy some other speakers' styles.”
“I’ve gained a lot in the course----how to organize the speech, control your pitch, draw your audience attention, and use your eye-contact. That’s useful.” An English major said.
“This course’s taught me many fresh things and language knowledge which helps me train myself professionally. It’s different from what I’ve learned in my major. Teachers not only enlighten me what I need in a speech contest, but broaden my horizon.” A student from Mathematics Department confirmed that.
If you really love English, have talent in lecturing and want to excel yourselves in the speech contest, just come and try!
